| Weather and PE Credit |
| Unfortunately, we have had A LOT of weather related cancellations this year. As a result we are going to need to be very focused on getting enough practice and game hours for Westlake High School PE credit.
Please make sure you are coming to each scheduled practice and game so you can get the proper credit. |
| Sponsorships |
| We need family and business sponsorships. Our club receives no Eanes ISD funding and we rely 100% on monies raised to run the organization.
If you have any questions or want to sponsor Westlake Womens Lacrosse, please contact email us. |
Car Wash Fundraiser on Sat, Oct 20, 2007!
Just the Facts, M'am
- Westlake Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse is having a car wash fundraiser on Saturday, October 20 from 8:00 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Valley View Elementary at 1201 Loop 360.
- View flyer for more general info or to hand out to your neighbors and friends.
- If it rains, we will reschedule. Players should collect the email addresses of ticket buyers so that you can contact them in the event of a rainout.
- All players need to pay $100 for 10 tickets, WHICH YOU CAN THEN RESELL! Bring your $100 to practice on Tues, Oct 2, and look for Doug or Claire English.
Prizes for top sellers
Doug has has some fantastic prizes for the top sellers:
- A $30 gift certificate at Jason's Deli,
- dinner for 2 at El Arroyo,
- one hour personal instruction from Coach Jo, and
- state-of-the-art 91 gram STX Pipeline Lacrosse stick with a new "abrupt incline" design rail. View very cool stick. Our neighborhood lacrosse store, South Swell at 3636 Bee Caves Rd, 732-0002, is donating this stick. The next time you're in there, please be sure to thank them!
The top seller will get to choose first, followed by the second, and so on. In the event of a tie, we'll flip a lacrosse stick.
Oct 14 Message from Doug English, car wash man-in-chief
Dear West Lake Women's Lacrosse Players and Parents,
The car wash is in less than one week. I would like to thank each of you that pre-purchased car wash tickets for your support on this important fund raiser. I understand the girls are busy, out selling tickets. If anyone is interested in winning one of the sales prizes here's a tip: no one has come back to me for more tickets yet so my guess is that 25 tickets should qualify for a prize.

Now that the tickets are moving and you are recouping your investment it's time to start working on the logistics of the car wash. I've had a great response from many parents about helping the girls work shifts at the car wash. However, because of the number of girls taking the PSAT that morning, we are short on volunteers for the morning shift at the car wash. If you haven't already done so, please contact me at denglish3@austin.rr.com at your earliest convenience to sign up for a shift - morning shift if you can, but both shifts need bodies. Friends and family members are welcome to come and help, too. The car wash really is a lot of fun - great camaraderie, great snacks, great people.
One last reminder - Please keep up with the extra 10 tickets you received. You will need to turn in the tickets or the money this week or at the car wash. I have more tickets if you get on a roll and need them.
I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at the car wash next Saturday.
Thanks!
Doug English
Mid-September Message from Doug English
I am very excited about the level of commitment made by the team this year to guarantee a successful carwash. I will hand out the tickets this week. You will receive 20 carwash tickets - 10 prepaid and 10 "bonus tickets." I feel confident that everyone will sell at least 20 tickets. Some of you will come back for even more tickets to sell.
IMPORTANT - you must return either the money for the bonus tickets or the bonus tickets themselves prior to or at the car wash.
Good luck! Doug English
Volunteers - we need you!
- If you haven't signed up for a shift at the car wash, please email Doug at denglish3@austin.rr.com. The shifts run from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM and 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. We need parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, dogs, cats, anyone that can swing a towel. The afternoon shift is filling up. We need morning shift volunteers. The morning shift is great. The work is fairly light until later in the morning and by lunch you are through for the day.
- Calling all leaders/managers! Doug needs 2 shift managers (one for the morning and one for the afternoon) AND a pizza/drink coordinator (someone to simply pick up the pizza, drinks and ice). Doug will meet with these folks once prior to the car wash to cover the details.
- Players will get 4 service hours for working a 4-hour shift at the car wash. Download Westlake's community service form.
Remember...
- Most everyone has a car (or 2 or 3) and most want theirs clean - and people are usually willing to give to a worthy student cause! And don't forget all of your friends' and neighbors' fundraisers that you and your family have supported in the past - for band, sports, choir, booster clubs, scouts, etc. People in this community are known for helping each other out.
